I might as well just cut to the chase and let you all know that after 60 days and countless hours of work and computer frustrations, www.justdanne.com will not be launching today as promised. I know, I know, I said there were no ifs ands or buts about my deadline, but I'm a busy gal and I just couldn't get it all done in time. What can you do?
Although it's not live and clickable like it should be, I'm at least happy to report that the design is 100% finished (images below to prove that I've actually done something over these past few months), and for me that's a huge (more like monumental) step forward.
Now I'm just finishing up prepping the files for programming so I can ship everything off to the developer (there was a moment when I thought I'd try to program it myself—hahahahaha). If everything goes smoothly, this girl will have herself a real, live website soon. Better late then never, right?

So, what's up for March's Lent? I'll be celebrating my second Fat Tuesday tonight (or should I say, Fat Wednesday) because tomorrow kicks off "The 21 Day Cleanse". Goodbye pasta and Pinot, sigh...

Happy Fat Tuesday from 12MOL
Even though I practice my own version of lent each month, I've decided that this year, for the first time since I started this blog in 2009, I'd also give something up for the real lent (which starts tomorrow). So, as of tomorrow, in true Dzenawagis tradition, I will be abstaining from all sweets (candy, cookies, ice cream, everything delicious and joyful) until Easter Sunday. I'm sure my cavities will enjoy the break.
So...Happy Fat Tuesday everyone! Let the candy gorge begin!
p.s. And yes, I'm still working on my website, that challenge has not disappeared. I made TONS of progress on Sunday (must have been all the yoga nidra I did), and I'm happy to report that I'm about 95% done with all of the design. Yippee! Now, who wants to program it for me? Anyone?

Website Work < Maine
Confession Time: Instead of working on my website all weekend like I should have been doing, I went to Portland, Maine instead. Whoops! After all the computer crap and cat crap (not literally, ha) and car crap, I needed a little weekend getaway to lift my spirits and Maine always knows how to make me feel better. A few shots:
An embroidery in our B&B.
Best. Place. Ever.
Best. Lunch. Ever. From. Best. Place. Ever.
Midday Allagash, don't mind if I do...
Love.
East End Cupcakes in Old Port.
Gotta love a good whale mural.
I love Watertown and all, but come on...
Ok, ok, enough procrastinating, time to get back to work!

The Good News, The Bad News, and a PSA:
The Good News: My computer is back complete with a new logic board and new hard drive, horray!
The Bad News: I hadn't backed up since I got it back after the first repair (you think I would have learned my lesson) a few weeks ago so I lost all of the work that I did on my website. Like, all of it. Wicked bummer.
PSA: Back up after you do anything important, seriously.
So, I'm officially back online and back to work. After a few days of reconfiguring, reinstalling, and redoing a ton of the work, of course. Progress report to come.

A Little Analog Superbowl Fun
Just about to head over to Grammy's house for the Superbowl (yes, my 91 year old grandmother is having a Superbowl party) and thought I'd bring along the cross-stitch that I've been working on since, oh, I don't know, 2006? Anyone who I worked with at Neoscape in the early days will recognize this:
Cross-stitching and football with Grammy = Analog entertainment at its finest.

That's What Friends Are For
To unexpectedly bring you flowers when your string of bum luck has expanded from just computer problems, to cat problems (my poor little Fanfan was recently diagnosed with diabetes) and car problems (don't you love when they find a bunch of crap wrong when you're just there to get an oil change?).
Thanks Jocelyn, you're the best! xoxo

Analog Graphic Design
The outcome of my visit to the Genius Bar the other day is that I am yet again without a computer for the week because they needed to send it away to have a specialist figure out what this pesky problem is. Que sera sera, I suppose. Moving on...
Since website work is at a standstill, I thought I'd post about some of the analog activities that I've been keeping myself busy with in my new found digital-free free time.
Activity #1: Analog Graphic Design.
They've recently discovered my design skills at work (for anyone who doesn't know, I work as an educator at lululemon) and have kept me busy working on window displays and sign painting throughout the store. It's been really fun, and I have to say, even a little liberating working on projects that aren't so contrived and serious. So, here are a few photos of what my BFA is currently working on:
The theme for our February store windows is "Occupy Love". I had the awesome task of hand drawing and painting the large "Occupy Love" letters, which was super fun and a total throwback to my Type 1 class in college. The original display featured 2 mannequins on top of each other in the tent but we were asked by mall security to remove them because they had too many complaints that it was "offensive". Seriously? No comment...
Our events board for February. Drawing little hearts over and over again is basically my dream job...
The local happenings board for Feb...
More analog fun to come!
